Description
Overview:
The 2022 Grand Saint Brice comes from another of our favorite cave coopératives — a respected Médoc community of artisan winegrowers who have consistently produced beautiful wines for our members year after year. The Grand Saint Brice cuvée was created in 1985 as a top-of-the-range selection drawn from the finest clay-limestone and gravelly Garonne terroirs of the cellar, expressly built to showcase the very best the appellation has to offer. The 2022 is a classic Médoc blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot, hand-sorted at the vine and made in the traditional Médoc style. The wine ages patiently for eighteen months — twelve of those in French oak barrels, one-third of them new — before being lightly fined, gently filtered, and bottled at the property. Powerful, fruity, and built for aging, this is a true classic of the appellation and a much-loved staple of our wine club.
Bob’s Review:
Wow! I love the nose, and this is so well made. A perfect balance between rich fruit and earthy terroir — dark fruit, fireplace, and barnyard. It drinks like a high-end Bordeaux at a fraction of what you’d expect. Drink now or hold for five to ten years.
